Freelance illustration and commissioned art in a bold, colorful style by Joel F. Naprstek. The medium is acrylic done in a traditional, representational method on archival watercolor paper, or canvas if the client so desires. Joel’s art covers a wide range of subject matter and genres.
Joel has been a freelance illustrator for over 25 years. Clients include NBC, CBS, American Tobacco, DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Time Inc., McGraw-Hill, Business Week, Financial World, Fortune, numerous ad agencies and designers.
In addition Joel is currently a designer/artist/painter for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade at Macy’s Parade Studio in Hoboken, NJ. Work includes everything from concept design and stetches to presentation art and actual painting of balloons and parade floats. Work is done in traditional methods of marker, acrylic paint as well as computer art via Photoshop and In Design programs.
Art education: The School Of Visual Arts, NYC. Joel has taught painting and illustration at the School Of Visual Arts in NYC for nine years, held summer SVA Summer Painting classes at Woodstock, NY. Ten years of teaching color, painting and story adaptation at the Joe Kubert School Of Cartoon & Graphic Art, Dover, NJ.
